At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, Alibaba Cloud CTO Zhou Jingren announced the latest developments of the Tongyi Large Model and the Alibaba Cloud Baoyan Platform. The download volume of the Tongyi Qianwen open-source model has doubled in two months, exceeding 20 million times. At the same time, the number of clients using Alibaba Cloud Baoyan services has increased from 90,000 to 230,000, achieving a growth of over 150%.
Zhou Jingren emphasized Alibaba Cloud's commitment to open-source and openness, mentioning that Tongyi Qianwen has already achieved full-scale and full-modal open-source, eliminating the differences between open-source and closed-source models. The Tongyi Large Model series has continuously improved in performance and has achieved scores comparable to GPT-4Turbo in the OpenCompass evaluation, marking the competitiveness of domestic large models in the global AI field.
The Tongyi Qianwen series includes models for language, multimodal, mixed experts, and code large models, which have already achieved excellent results in many authoritative evaluations. In particular, the newly launched Qwen2-72B model has been warmly welcomed by developers globally and has scored highly in model evaluations such as Compass Arena and Open LLM Leaderboard.
In order to lower the threshold for using large models and accelerate the popularization of AI applications, the Tongyi Qianwen series models have implemented significant price reductions, with the main model dropping by 97%, significantly reducing the cost of use. After the price reduction, the number of large model calls on Alibaba Cloud has significantly increased, with many well-known enterprises becoming clients of Alibaba Cloud Baoyan.
The Alibaba Cloud Baoyan Platform, as an important platform carrying cloud + AI capabilities, provides fully-managed large model customization and application services, and is compatible with open-source frameworks, supporting openness and freedom. The Baoyan platform integrates hundreds of large model APIs, covering major domestic and international manufacturers, and supports enterprises to list models, providing developers with a variety of choices.
Zhou Jingren stated that Alibaba Cloud will continue to embrace the open-source and open strategy, creating the most open cloud in the AI era, and will cooperate with industry partners to help Chinese enterprises and developers seize the opportunities of the large model era through open computing platforms, open-source self-developed models, and high-quality model services.
