U.S. company Skild AI, dedicated to building general-purpose robotic intelligence, has emerged from its stealth mode and successfully secured a $300 million Series A round of funding. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Skild AI was founded in 2023 by graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Abhinav Gupta and Deepak Pathak, with Deepak serving as the CEO of Skild.

With a current valuation of $1.5 billion, the company has received funding support from prominent investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, SoftBank Group, and Jeff Bezos.

Raviraj Jain, a partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, said: "Skild AI has made tremendous breakthroughs in a short period of time, and we believe they are a unique company that may redefine our perception of machine capabilities. Deepak and Abhinav have been drivers of progress in the robotics field, and their innovation in applying the core principles of fundamental models to the real world has led the industry to the path of general-purpose robots."

Skild AI's fundamental model has been trained on a large amount of data, overcoming data challenges in the robotics field, and has shown excellent adaptability, performing well in various types of robots, scenarios, and tasks, such as handling objects, movement, and navigation.

The company claims that "Skild Brain" is the first scalable robotic fundamental model, which can adapt to different hardware and tasks.
