Microsoft announced on Wednesday that its AI-driven design application, Designer, has officially launched its preview version, now fully available to iOS and Android users. This application, similar to Canva, allows users to generate images and designs through text prompts, suitable for creating stickers, greeting cards, invitations, and collages, among other content.
Designer currently supports over 80 languages and can be used for free via web, mobile apps, and Windows applications. To help users quickly start their creative process, the app offers various "prompt templates" that include customizable styles and descriptions. Users can also share these templates with each other to inspire new ideas.

In addition to stickers, Designer supports the creation of emojis, clipart, wallpapers, monograms, and avatars through text prompts. Users can also use AI features to edit and redesign images, such as uploading selfies and selecting styles, adding extra details to alter the photo's appearance. Microsoft stated that the app will soon introduce a "background replacement" feature, allowing users to transform image backgrounds using text prompts.
With the launch of the standalone application, Microsoft plans to integrate Designer services into office applications like Word and PowerPoint through Copilot. Subscribers of Copilot Pro will be able to create images and designs within their workflow. In the future, users will also be able to automatically create banners in Word based on document content.
Furthermore, Microsoft announced deeper integration of Designer with the Microsoft Photos application on Windows 11. Users can now directly use AI editing features within the Photos app, such as erasing objects, removing backgrounds, and automatically cropping images, without needing to switch to other applications.
