Anthropic has recently announced a partnership with venture capital firm Menlo Ventures to establish the Anthology Fund, a fund with a total of $100 million aimed at supporting the next generation of AI startups. According to the plan, each eligible startup can receive at least $100,000 in investment, along with additional support and resources provided by Anthropic and Menlo Ventures.
In a statement, Anthropic's president, Daniela Amodei, pointed out: "Through our collaboration with Menlo Ventures and the Anthology Fund, we aim to accelerate the development of breakthrough applications that leverage AI to enhance human capabilities and productivity in areas such as healthcare, legal services, education, energy, infrastructure, and scientific research." She added: "We look forward to closely collaborating with the outstanding founders supported by Menlo Ventures under these funds to push the frontiers of AI application innovation."
Additionally, Anthropic does not require the fund beneficiaries to use its competitor Claude, despite the release of Claude's latest 3.5 version last month. The fund also offers a variety of other value-added benefits, including expert support, mentorship, developer relations support, networking opportunities with other AI companies, and regular meetings.
This initiative is similar to the OpenAI Startup Fund established by OpenAI, which has $175 million to support AI startups. The overall development trajectories of the two companies are very similar, with Anthropic having received billions of dollars in investment from Amazon, while OpenAI has received a substantial investment from Microsoft.
