As the Paris Olympics approach, Alibaba has announced that its Tongyi large model will serve as the technical provider for the Olympics' first AI large model application.
Simultaneously, Alibaba Cloud has implemented advanced AI enhancement technology in Olympic broadcasting, offering viewers an innovative viewing experience. One notable technology is "Bullet Time," which utilizes high-speed camera arrays and cloud computing to achieve high-freedom playback. This technology can capture thrilling moments in real-time, perform 3D reconstruction in the cloud, and provide multi-angle replays.
At the competition venues, high-definition cameras are installed in the spectator stands. When athletes enter specific zones, the cameras capture these moments. These high-definition images are then transmitted to the cloud, where engineers perform 3D modeling and rendering, creating an immersive experience that can freeze on the athletes' motion details or offer effects like rotating and zooming.
The "Bullet Time" technology will be applied in 14 venues of the Paris Olympics, covering broadcasts of sports such as rugby sevens, badminton, athletics, basketball, beach volleyball, table tennis, wrestling, tennis, judo, breakdancing, BMX freestyle, and skateboarding. This technology not only enhances the viewing experience for audiences but also showcases the potential and innovative applications of AI in sports broadcasting.
