Apple Inc. has rolled out the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 Developer Preview Beta updates to iPhone and iPad users, featuring a preview of Apple Intelligence, marking its availability for users of iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. However, some features such as advanced Siri functionalities are not yet available.
Only devices equipped with the M1 chip or later, including Macs and iPads, or the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will receive the Beta updates. Users can enable Apple Intelligence in their settings, but developers need to join a waiting list and await permission grants.
Apple Intelligence encompasses various features, such as Writing Tools which can proofread text, rewrite content, and summarize text; improved Siri features including new activation effects, the ability to communicate with Siri via text, and maintaining conversation context; enhanced summarization and smart replies in the Mail app; smart reply support in the Messages app; Focus Modes for filtering notifications; memory and natural language search capabilities in the Photos app; and the highly anticipated call recording feature, which supports multiple languages and notifies all participants during the call, with audio and text records saved to the Notes app afterward.
Additionally, Safari allows Apple Intelligence to summarize articles, and users can access the Apple Intelligence Report in settings to export relevant data. However, features like Image Playground, Genmoji, priority notifications, and removing portraits from images are not yet available.
