Recently, data released by app analytics firm Appfigures shows that OpenAI's ChatGPT mobile app achieved a record monthly revenue high in July, with a net income of $28 million. This growth is primarily attributed to the introduction of the GPT-4 "omni" mode in May.

According to Appfigures' report, the total revenue of the ChatGPT app (before platform fees) from both Apple's App Store and Google Play was: $28.9 million in May, $34 million in June, and $39.9 million in July. Notably, Apple's App Store contributed 83% of the revenue, a 20% increase from June.

The GPT-4 "omni" mode has brought ChatGPT new capabilities to handle text, voice, and video, along with faster response times. Users can also interrupt the chatbot at any time, making AI interactions more natural. Appfigures noted that these new features drove a 40% month-over-month revenue increase for the ChatGPT app in May. Although the growth rate subsequently slowed, the overall trend remained healthy.

Based on July's revenue data, Appfigures estimates that the ChatGPT app gained approximately 2 million new paying users, setting another record. With the launch of ChatGPT's new Advanced Voice Mode, offering near-real-time and more authentic interaction experiences, Appfigures anticipates continued revenue growth for the ChatGPT app in the coming months.

This report reflects the strong demand for large language model applications on mobile devices and highlights the progress OpenAI has made on its commercialization path. As AI technology continues to evolve, the market prospects for similar applications are promising.
