AMD recently announced that it has officially completed the acquisition of Silo AI, one of Europe's largest private artificial intelligence laboratories. The transaction is valued at approximately $665 million, which translates to about 4.77 billion RMB at the latest exchange rates, and AMD will pay in full with cash.
This deal marks the largest private AI innovation company merger in Europe since Google's acquisition of UK-based DeepMind for approximately £400 million in 2014. Through this acquisition, Silo AI will be integrated into AMD's Artificial Intelligence Group (AIG), led by AMD Senior Vice President Vamsi Boppana.
AMD emphasized that the acquisition of Silo AI is a significant manifestation of the company's commitment to providing open-standard-based end-to-end AI solutions and establishing strong partnerships within the global AI ecosystem.
Silo AI, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, has operations across Europe and the United States, bringing AMD a world-class team of AI scientists and engineers, as well as cutting-edge AI models, platforms, and solutions, particularly the open-source large language models Poro and Viking.
