Today, Pindrop announced the launch of Pulse Inspect, a web-based tool capable of detecting AI-generated speech in any digital audio or video file with a high accuracy rate of 99%. As part of the Pindrop Pulse suite of products, Pulse Inspect is unique in its ability to identify audio generated by various tools or AI models, a feature not commonly found in the industry where most AI vendors typically develop classifiers that can only detect content generated by their own tools.

Pulse Inspect is currently in preview, designed to serve organizations looking to tackle audio forgery risks at scale. Vijay Balasubramaniyan, CEO of Pindrop, mentioned that they might also introduce more affordable pricing options based on market demand, catering to consumers who occasionally need detection services.

With the rise of text-generating AI systems, audio forgery has become more prevalent. Popular generative AI tools, such as those from Microsoft and ElevenLabs, have been used to mimic the audio and video of celebrities, business people, and politicians, leading to widespread misinformation and scams that affect their public image. An internal report from Pindrop shows that over 12 million American adults are aware of someone who has created forged content without consent.

The core feature of Pulse Inspect is a web application where users can upload suspicious audio files and receive a "forgery score" within seconds, highlighting sections with AI-generated speech. This rapid feedback can help organizations take proactive measures to prevent the spread of misinformation and maintain brand reputation.

Pindrop states that their deepfake detection model, trained using over 350 forgery-generating tools, 20 million unique sentences, and 40 different languages, achieves a 99% accuracy rate in detecting forged audio. Additionally, Pulse Inspect can identify mixed media files that contain both AI-generated and authentic elements.

It's worth noting that Pulse Inspect is not limited to detecting specific vendor tools, covering over 350 generative tools. Pindrop's target users currently include media companies, non-profit organizations, government agencies, celebrity management firms, law firms, and social media networks. Besides the web application, Pulse Inspect can also be integrated into custom forensic workflows via API, supporting batch usage.

In the future, Pindrop plans to enhance the interpretability of the Pulse suite, aiming to trace the origins of forged content generation and support more media types.
