Recently, the Meta AI Search team received a 28-page infringement notice from the China Academic Journals (CD Edition) Electronic Magazine Co., Ltd. (CNKI). The notice pointed out that Meta AI Search provided users with a large number of CNKI academic literature titles and abstracts through its platform without CNKI's permission, which is considered a serious infringement of CNKI's legal rights. CNKI also demanded that MetaTech sever all links from search results to CNKI's website and indicated that for business cooperation, they should be contacted directly.

Meta AI Search stated that its "Academic" section only includes abstracts and titles of papers, not the full text content, and that reading the full text requires jumping to the original website via source links. The team emphasized that the value of knowledge lies in its flow, and academic literature, as a carrier of human intellectual achievements, is irreplaceable. The open access of scientific literature is crucial for the fair access to knowledge and the development of scientific research.

The Meta AI Search team mentioned that they respect and understand CNKI's decision and announced that they will no longer include CNKI literature titles and abstracts, but will instead include literature titles and abstracts from other authoritative Chinese and English knowledge databases. The team also expressed their openness to collaboration with other databases to jointly promote the discovery and dissemination of knowledge.

MetaTech stated that as a startup team, Meta AI Search is committed to making the process of knowledge discovery more intelligent and simple, making literature search faster and more accurate. Despite facing challenges, Meta AI Search will continue its mission to return search to its essence and serve the academic community and researchers.
