According to the latest report from Canalys, the global shipment of AI PCs reached 8.8 million units in the second quarter of 2024, accounting for 14% of total PC shipments. These AI PCs include desktops and laptops equipped with dedicated AI workloads, utilizing advanced chipset technologies such as NPUs.

Analyst Ishan Dutt noted that the AI PC market is rapidly expanding, with shipments expected to significantly increase in the second half of 2024.

The report highlights that the recent launch of the Copilot+PC featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon X series chips marks a new phase in the development of AI PCs. Although initial shipments are relatively limited, Windows OEMs have committed to widely adopting such chips in their product lines, indicating a promising future market outlook.

In the x86 market, Intel has accelerated the delivery of its Core Ultra chipset, while AMD introduced the Ryzen AI300 series processors in June. Dutt predicts that AI PC shipments will continue to grow, with 2024 shipments expected to reach 44 million units, and potentially surpassing 100 million units by 2025.

In terms of brand performance, Apple leads in the AI PC market with its entire Mac product line equipped with neural engines. Meanwhile, Windows OEMs such as Lenovo, HP, and Dell have significantly boosted their market shares by launching AI-enabled devices. Notably, Lenovo saw a 228% sequential increase in AI PC shipments, capturing a 6% share in the Windows PC market.

As AI technology continues to evolve and market demand grows, the application value of AI PCs will strengthen, with more updates and upgrades expected in the next 12 months.
