Recently, Samsung announced a new round of AI features for its smart appliances, with the most notable being that smart refrigerators will support AI-generated wallpapers. This feature will be available for Samsung Family Hub refrigerators released in the United States and South Korea after 2022.
Users simply need to select a theme from any of the seven categories and choose from six artistic styles to generate personalized wallpapers. These wallpapers can be displayed on the refrigerator's screen, used on a whiteboard, or saved to an album for easy retrieval. However, this feature requires Wi-Fi connection and allows for a maximum of five wallpaper creations per day.
In addition, Samsung has upgraded its Bixby voice assistant, enhancing the control capabilities for smart homes. The new Bixby can understand more complex commands and remember previous conversations, making interactions with appliances more natural. For example, users can ask about dinner time and then instruct the washing machine to complete its task before that. Samsung even provides an example where users can ask Bixby about error codes on the refrigerator or why it is making a clicking sound.
However, this upgrade for Bixby is not applicable to all Samsung appliances; only specific models released in 2024 will enjoy this new feature, including the Bespoke4-Door Refrigerator, Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, and AI WindFree Gallery Freestanding Air Conditioner. With the introduction of these new features, Samsung's smart appliances will become even smarter, making users' lives more convenient and personalized.
