Google Meet's new feature "Take Notes for Me" is now officially live. This feature is currently available to Google Workspace customers using Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or the AI Meetings & Messaging add-on.
This feature is similar to Meet's transcription tool, but it operates differently. Instead of merely automatically recording what everyone says, it summarizes the meeting content.
Imagine no longer needing to frantically take notes during meetings! After the meeting, Google Meet will automatically organize the meeting notes into a Google Doc and attach it to the calendar event, allowing you to view it anytime. Even better, both the meeting organizer and other participants who have enabled this feature will receive the document, truly thoughtful!
Additionally, if you are late for any reason, Google will provide a summary of the missed meeting content, allowing you to quickly catch up on the meeting's progress without worrying about others repeating what has already been said. Meanwhile, if you use Google Meet's recording and transcription features, the meeting notes document will also provide links to the relevant files, truly a one-stop service.
This feature is also a great accessibility tool for those who find it difficult to handle both language and note-taking during meetings. It allows them to focus more and avoid frequently asking for content to be repeated. However, it's important to note that although this feature sounds very powerful, it currently only supports English, and Google reminds us that AI can sometimes make mistakes.
Google plans to roll out this feature to all Google Workspace users by September 10, 2024.
