A recent study conducted by Irish recruitment platform IrishJobs reveals that over a quarter of Irish employers have introduced artificial intelligence (AI) technology in their hiring processes. This report on AI and recruitment highlights the primary applications of AI in hiring, including sending reminders, tracking candidate application statuses, and scheduling interviews. The report also mentions that nearly one-fifth of companies rely entirely on AI to write job advertisements.

The study further indicates that over half of the companies have started using AI for recruitment in the past 12 months, with medium-sized enterprises being the most prevalent adopters, showcasing their status as early technology adopters. In contrast, only 13% of small businesses have introduced this technology in their recruitment processes.

Regarding the role of AI in recruitment, 37% of recruiters are optimistic about its prospects, believing it can help them perform their jobs better; while half of the recruiters are uncertain about the future impact of AI. This research surveyed recruitment decision-makers from 250 Irish companies.

Sam Dooley, National Director of IrishJobs, stated: "Although we are still in the early stages of the AI lifecycle, our research shows that AI technology has indeed significantly impacted how employers attract and recruit talent. Currently, over a quarter of Irish organizations are leveraging this technology to drive change."

Dooley added: "The initial impact of AI on improving recruitment efficiency is complex. 51% of recruiters believe AI has made their job easier, but 46% say it has made their job more complicated." Additionally, the research findings indicate that an increasing number of job seekers are also starting to use AI tools in the recruitment process. As more job seekers try these tools, employers are increasingly focusing on more personalized evaluation methods, such as interviews, to gain a deeper understanding of candidate performance earlier.
