According to the latest report from Sensor Tower, titled "2024 AI App Market Insights," the global AI app market continues to maintain strong growth momentum. In the first eight months of 2024, global AI app revenues grew by 51%, surpassing the $2 billion mark, with annual revenues expected to reach $3.3 billion.
The report highlights that both downloads and revenues for AI apps are predominantly driven by the North American market, while India has emerged as the largest market for downloads, accounting for 21% of the global total. North America, with a 47% revenue contribution, is the highest-earning region for AI apps.
Within the AI app sector, Chatbot apps and image editing apps dominate the global top 30 download charts. OpenAI's "ChatGPT" leads the market with over 160 million downloads and nearly $230 million in revenue. Additionally, Bending Spoons' image editing app "Remini" has gained popularity on social media due to its AI avatar generation feature and AI clay filter, achieving over 120 million downloads.
AI + Chatbot apps saw over 630 million downloads and nearly $580 million in in-app purchases from January to August 2024, significantly exceeding the full-year figures of 2023. Emotional companion AI apps are also popular among young users, with top apps like "Character AI" and "Talkie AI" seeing over 70% of their users aged between 18 and 35.
