Baidu has announced a significant update to its artificial intelligence application, "Ernie Bot," which has been upgraded to version 4.0.0 and officially renamed "WenXiaoYan."

The capabilities of the WenXiaoYan app have been notably enhanced, offering a more extensive range of usage scenarios. Based on Baidu's Ernie large model, the app now provides users with various AI capabilities such as search, creation, and chatting. As a special anniversary upgrade, WenXiaoYan has introduced five core scenario capabilities, including asking questions, companion chatting, article writing, image drawing, and task allocation.

To celebrate this upgrade, Baidu has announced that the use of the Ernie 4.0 large model will be free for all users throughout September. New users or those who were not previously members will have their membership automatically activated, enjoying member services for the entire month. For existing members of Ernie Bot, the official will provide an additional month of membership experience cards.

Ernie Bot was initially launched on March 16 of last year and was opened to the public on August 31. Robin Li, CEO of Baidu, revealed on CCTV Financial that Ernie Bot 4.0 has surpassed ChatGPT 4.0 in Chinese language processing capabilities. The Ernie large model 4.0 has seen significant improvements in understanding, generating, logical reasoning, and memory.
