As businesses continue to deepen their focus on artificial intelligence and data analysis, major data infrastructure providers are striving to lower the barriers to entry for users, aiming to help teams extract maximum value from their data assets. Recently, graph database pioneer Neo4j has also stepped up its game with a significant upgrade to its AuraDB service.

Neo4j announced that its fully managed cloud graph database service, AuraDB, has been upgraded to not only enhance usability but also introduce a generative AI assistant, while improving read capabilities by 15 times. This means users can process data faster and more efficiently. Additionally, Neo4j has launched a new self-service product version at a lower price, aiming to make graph databases more accessible to more businesses, especially in generative AI and advanced analytics applications.

In this upgrade, Neo4j introduced a generative AI assistant that can be used within the Aura console. This assistant leverages OpenAI's large language model (LLM) to provide real-time suggestions, optimizations, and explanations, helping users write Cypher queries to quickly extract data insights. Users only need to input natural language questions, and the AI assistant will generate the corresponding Cypher code, eliminating the tedious writing process.

Furthermore, Neo4j added NeoDash, a no-code/low-code interactive dashboard building tool, allowing users to easily create various charts and visualizations. This enables more intuitive data analysis and interaction, such as real-time map security risks or supply chain visualization.

In terms of security, AuraDB has also been enhanced, including customer-managed encryption keys and real-time security log auditing capabilities. Additionally, the improved read capabilities mean that AuraDB can achieve 15 times the real-time processing power when handling data, suitable for applications requiring a high read/write ratio. Users can add up to 15 AuraDB replicas for each database instance, supporting multiple platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Regarding the market prospects for graph technology, Gartner predicts that by 2025, 80% of data and analytics workloads will adopt graph technology, up from just 10% in 2021. This indicates that graph databases are becoming increasingly important in enterprise AI applications.

Neo4j hopes to attract more users with this upgrade and has introduced a more affordable AuraDB Business Critical pricing, which is 20% cheaper than traditional enterprise packages. Currently, Neo4j has over 1,700 customers and more than 300,000 developers, solidifying its position as a leader in scalable graph technology.
