Amazon's audiobook service, Audible, announced on Monday that it will use AI technology trained on professional narrators' voices to generate new audiobook recordings. Audible plans to start inviting a group of American professional audiobook narrators to participate in the AI voice training project this week.
The trained AI will be used for recording, and narrators will have the opportunity to approve their synthesized voices for specific works and edit pronunciation and pacing.
Audible stated that participants in the program will be compensated for audiobooks created with their AI voices on a per-title, royalty-sharing basis.
