According to the latest semi-annual report on AI agent applications insights released by QuestMobile in 2024, the monthly active users of artificial intelligence (AI) applications have exceeded 66 million, marking rapid development and widespread adoption of AI technology at the application level. The report highlights that AI applications have formed eight major categories, including emotional companionship, office efficiency, educational learning, life assistance, recreational entertainment, copywriting, and industry consulting, with commercialization paths already initiated.
The report mentions that among AI native applications, Doubao, Wenxiaoyan, Kimi Smart Assistant, Xingye, and Tongyi rank among the top five in terms of monthly active users. These applications address specific user needs in certain scenarios through the provision of agent services, and both the number and types of agents are continuously growing, such as the over 14,000 agents within the Tongyi application.
Regarding the creation and distribution of agents, the report emphasizes the importance of the WeChat ecosystem as a significant channel for the C-end market of agents. Many agents are promoted and used through WeChat sharing, official accounts, and mini-programs. Additionally, the business models for agents are also being explored, with subscription services and product recommendations emerging as new trial directions.
The report also indicates that the application of agents in educational learning scenarios is relatively mature and has demonstrated a "Matthew effect" in other life scenarios, where the usage popularity of top agents accounts for a large proportion. For example, in the Doubao and Tongyi applications, the usage popularity CR5 of top agents reaches 77.4% and 76.5%, respectively.
AI agent applications are becoming an important branch in the mobile internet sector, offering diverse functionalities and exploring business models that provide users with richer and more convenient experiences, while also providing new impetus and direction for the industry.
