At the recent "Accelerate" conference, Amazon introduced an AI tool called "Video Generator," which has garnered significant industry attention. This tool can transform static product images into dynamic video content, opening up new possibilities for advertising and marketing.

Jay Richman, Vice President of Amazon Advertising, stated that Video Generator is currently being tested with some advertisers in the United States, particularly in "Sponsored Brands" advertising campaigns. He emphasized that this is a major innovation, harnessing generative AI to inspire creativity and deliver more value to advertisers and consumers.

According to Amazon, Video Generator can produce 6 to 9 seconds long, 720p resolution, 24 frames per second videos within 5 minutes. These videos are automatically generated based on "seed" product images, and users can choose from four different versions. The video content typically includes two scenes, a title, background music, and a call to action, with customizable fonts, music, and brand logos.

In addition to Video Generator, Amazon has also introduced a "Live Image" feature, which can convert static images into short animated GIFs. Both features are part of Amazon's AI image generation suite for the market and are currently in a limited testing phase.

Amazon's move coincides with other tech companies actively exploring the field of generative video. Startups like Runway and Luma have recently released generative video APIs, Google is integrating its Veo model into YouTube Shorts, and Adobe promises to introduce video generation technology into its creative suite by the end of the year. OpenAI also plans to launch "Sora" technology this fall.

However, the use of generative AI technology also brings potential risks. Some models may have been trained using unauthorized copyrighted materials, posing a risk of intellectual property lawsuits for users. In response, Amazon stated that it will protect customers accused of copyright infringement for using its models to generate media, in accordance with its indemnification policy.

The rise of generative AI is profoundly impacting the film and television industry. A study commissioned by the Hollywood Animation Guild predicts that by 2026, over 100,000 jobs in the U.S. entertainment industry could be affected by generative AI.

Amazon's initiative undoubtedly injects new vitality into the advertising and marketing sector. Through AI technology, advertisers can generate high-quality video content more quickly and economically, potentially enhancing advertising effectiveness and user experience. However, this may also pose challenges to traditional content creators and the advertising production industry.

As technology continues to advance, we can foresee that AI-generated video content will play an increasingly important role on e-commerce platforms and social media. This will not only change the way advertisements are made but may also reshape the entire digital marketing ecosystem.

Nevertheless, whether AI-generated content can fully replace human creativity remains questionable. Truly high-quality advertising content requires not only technical support but also deep human insights and creative thinking. Therefore, the future success of the advertising industry may lie in how to skillfully combine AI technology with human creativity to create both efficient and compelling advertising content.
