Recently, OpenAI announced that it is recruiting machine learning engineers for its newly established multi-agent research team. This news was shared by OpenAI's research scientist Noam Brown via social media platforms. He stated: "We believe that multi-agent systems are a crucial pathway to enhancing AI reasoning capabilities, and previous experience with multi-agents is not mandatory." Brown also encouraged professionals interested in this field to apply to join the team.

In a recent interview, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman also discussed the company's newly launched o1 model. He mentioned that users might need some time to fully understand how to use the updated ChatGPT. He said: "This will require users to spend some time adapting, as it is significantly different from previous GPT models."

Altman further revealed OpenAI's five-tier classification of artificial intelligence. He pointed out: "The first level is chatbots; the second level is the reasoner we have just reached; the third level is the agent; the fourth level is the innovator, capable of discovering new scientific information; and the fifth level is the complete organization." He emphasized that the transition from the first level to the second level requires some time, and the exciting part is that the transition from the second level to the third level will be relatively quick. He said: "The agent experiences this technology can unlock could have a significant impact."

Recently, OpenAI also launched its new series of o1-preview AI models, designed to tackle complex problems in fields such as science, coding, and mathematics. These models are now available in ChatGPT and through an early preview version of the API, with plans for regular updates and improvements in the future.

The o1 series models focus on spending more time reasoning before responding, thereby enhancing their problem-solving abilities. In preliminary tests, this updated reasoning model performed on par with doctoral students in subjects like physics, chemistry, and biology. Additionally, the model achieved significant success in math and programming competitions, scoring 83% on the qualification exam for the International Mathematical Olympiad, compared to the previous GPT-4o's 13%.
