Recently, a spokesperson for Meta Company stated that Meta will not immediately join the European Union's Artificial Intelligence Convention. This convention is a provisional measure aimed at helping businesses adapt to the upcoming new regulations before the full implementation of the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act.

It is worth noting that this Artificial Intelligence Act was approved by EU legislators in May of this year and is the world's first regulation specifically targeting the development and deployment of artificial intelligence.

Under this act, businesses will be required to provide detailed summaries of the data used for training artificial intelligence models. This means that any company involved with artificial intelligence in the future will need to be more transparent about what data they have used for training. The European Commission also revealed last month that most provisions of the act will come into effect on August 2, 2026. Therefore, before this law takes effect, businesses are encouraged to voluntarily join the Artificial Intelligence Convention and implement relevant obligations in advance.

The Meta spokesperson said: "We welcome unified EU rules and are currently focusing on compliance work under the Artificial Intelligence Act." At the same time, he also mentioned that Meta might join this convention at a future stage, indicating that the company does not reject this form of cooperation. In fact, the Artificial Intelligence Act is the fifth pillar of EU legislation, complementing the Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, Data Governance Act, and Data Act to form a comprehensive regulatory framework.

This signifies the continuous strengthening of EU regulation in the field of artificial intelligence, and businesses must be prepared in terms of transparency and compliance to ensure they do not fall behind in future markets.

Key Points:

1️⃣ Meta has not yet joined the EU's Artificial Intelligence Convention but may consider joining in the future.

2️⃣ The EU's Artificial Intelligence Act will take effect in 2026, requiring businesses to provide detailed information on training data.

3️⃣ This act is a significant part of the EU's new round of digital regulations, covering multiple areas.
