Recently, Indeed Hiring Lab released a study exploring the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, particularly focusing on the GPT-4o model developed by OpenAI. This study analyzed over 2,800 job skills and found that while generative AI shows potential in many areas, it does not mean that white-collar positions will be rapidly replaced.

The research indicates that 69% of skills are considered "very unlikely" or "possibly not" to be replaced by generative AI. Only 29% of skills might face the risk of being replaced in the future as technology advances and business practices evolve. Notably, no single job skill was assessed as "very likely" to be replaced by AI. This suggests that although AI has made breakthroughs in many aspects, it is far from being able to comprehensively replace human work.

In this study, AI was asked whether it could master certain job skills, such as accounting, marketing, software development, and medical administrative support. The results showed that in these fields, AI might have more than a 50% chance of replacing some specific tasks. Although AI can provide assistance with some complex issues, its capabilities are still limited in practical applications.

Particularly in the accounting industry, about 78% of skills are considered "likely" or "possibly to be replaced by AI." Among these skills, AI's problem-solving abilities were rated as "good" for 31%. This makes the accounting industry the most affected profession in this study. However, the likelihood of other professions' skills being replaced by AI is relatively low, and AI's problem-solving capabilities are also limited.

As AI technology continues to advance, more complex skills may be mastered by AI in the future. However, for now, AI is more adept at handling simple, non-hands-on tasks, such as quickly generating text or images. Therefore, although the prospects for AI seem bright, in the short term, human wisdom and creativity are still needed to complete tasks that require hands-on work and complex decision-making.
