MediaTek officially launched its new flagship chip, the Dimensity 9400, today. This is the first flagship chip in the Android camp to adopt a 3nm process, built using TSMC's second-generation 3nm fabrication technology.
The Dimensity 9400 has achieved a significant leap in performance, upgrading to the second-generation full large-core architecture. The CPU part includes a 3.62GHz Cortex-X925 super core, three Cortex-X4 super cores, and four Cortex-A720 large cores, with a single-core performance improvement of 35% and multi-core performance improvement of 28%.
This chip adopts the PC-grade Armv9 architecture, with the secondary and tertiary caches increased by 100% and 50% respectively. Meanwhile, the Dimensity 9400 is the first to support 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X memory, the fastest known mobile memory globally, with a performance increase of 25% and energy efficiency reduced by 25%.
Compared to the previous generation, the Dimensity 9400 has reduced power consumption by 40% while maintaining the same performance, meaning it can provide a smooth gaming experience while effectively lowering power consumption, extending battery life, and reducing heat generation.
The GPU of the Dimensity 9400 is the 12-core Immortalis-G925, with a 40% increase in graphics performance and a 44% reduction in power consumption compared to the previous generation. Additionally, it debuts the 3A-class ray tracing technology OMM Ultra-Shadow Engine and Arm's elite super-resolution technology, which increase game frame rates by 50% and reduce power consumption by 10%.
In terms of benchmark scores, MediaTek officially announced a room temperature score of 2.84 million, with lab low-temperature scores exceeding 3 million. According to the scores of OPPO and vivo's new flagships, models from various manufacturers can easily surpass 3 million.
In the AI aspect, the Dimensity 9400 is equipped with the APU890 and integrates MediaTek's Dimensity AI Intelligent Engine, supporting on-device LoRA training, high-quality video generation, temporal tensor hardware acceleration technology, and diffusion transformer technology, capable of processing text lengths up to 32K tokens.
The Dimensity 9400's multi-modal AI processing capability reaches 50 tokens per second, not only understanding and reasoning about image content but also bringing users on-device generative AI experiences including text, images, and music.
