Recently, AI-driven startup Unify has announced more good news, successfully securing $12 million in Series A funding.

This round of financing was led by existing investors Emergence Capital and Thrive Capital, with participation from the OpenAI Startup Fund, Neo, Abstract, 20Sales, and AltCap. Unify's mission is to help businesses accurately reach potential customers using data to enhance sales efficiency.

Established only 20 months ago, Unify participated in OpenAI's Converge I accelerator last year and subsequently secured nearly $7 million in seed funding. The company was co-founded by Austin Hughes and Connor Heggie.

Hughes, who previously led the sales outreach program at Ramp, noticed a decline in the success rate of cold emails over the years. This observation led him to ponder how to apply data more effectively to enable sales and marketing teams to provide personalized communication at the point of customer purchase intent.

To achieve this goal, Hughes collaborated with machine learning research engineer Heggie from Scale AI to develop an AI-enhanced messaging tool designed to help sales teams generate leads and close deals more quickly. Although there are already many AI sales development representative (AISDR) companies like 11x.ai and Reggie.ai rising rapidly, Hughes stated that Unify does not intend to compete directly with these companies.

He emphasized that Unify is more inclined to offer what is known as "warm outreach" messaging services, focusing on personalization and precision in communication. He said, "We can fine-tune every aspect as needed, such as the copy content and the sources of data used." In this way, Unify can extract information from CRM systems and other data repositories to help sales teams better target potential customers and identify their buying signals.

In Hughes' view, Unify is positioned more as a data company rather than a traditional sales tool. He candidly expressed his desire to emulate companies like Zoominfo and Outbound.io. Although their business models differ from AISDR, they have shown strong growth momentum. Currently, Unify's revenue has reached several million dollars, with clients including Justworks and Lattice.

Unify's innovative approach and flexible data application have enabled them to find a unique foothold in the competitive market.
