At the recent "Cybercab" event, Tesla showcased a series of impressive humanoid robots named Optimus, and also unveiled the new Robovan. These Optimus robots walked onto the stage, demonstrating the various tasks they can perform in daily life, such as fetching packages from the porch and watering plants.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, humorously remarked during the event: "Optimus will walk alongside you." He even mentioned that you could walk up to them, and the robots would offer you a drink.

Musk described Optimus as being almost capable of "doing anything," such as walking the dog, babysitting, mowing the lawn, and serving drinks at parties. He estimated that the cost of mass-produced Optimus robots would be between $20,000 and $30,000 in the future.

After the event, live footage showed the audience interacting with the Optimus robots. Although these robots mainly waved and seemed to offer little practical service, the atmosphere was filled with joy. Despite a table of drinks, Optimus seemed to be holding just a cup of ice. More amusingly, some robots could distribute small gifts on another table and play rock-paper-scissors with guests. There was also a closed pavilion where the robots were dancing, creating a lively scene.

Musk had introduced a lighter and faster Gen2 robot last year and stated during this year's April earnings call that Optimus would start performing "useful tasks" by the end of the year, with plans to sell them to the public by the end of next year. It could be said that Optimus was not initially taken seriously; at the 2021 launch event, a man even danced on stage wearing a robot costume. But by 2022, Tesla had showcased a more mature prototype, indicating its development potential.

Musk has promised that Optimus will bring a "fundamental transformation" to human civilization and is expected to increase economic output by "two orders of magnitude," eventually enabling mass production, potentially reaching millions of units. He believes that the advent of Optimus will help achieve "a future without poverty."
