Apple is working behind the scenes to prepare new Apple Intelligence features for iOS18, iPadOS18, and macOS15. The first batch of features will be available in the iOS18.1, iPadOS18.1, and macOS15.1 updates, but Apple is also preparing for the next set of features.
MacRumors has discovered new references to Siri's ChatGPT integration, as Apple is gearing up to implement ChatGPT support. Siri's code mentions options for ChatGPT-generated text and ChatGPT-generated images, two features Apple plans to implement soon.
The integration of ChatGPT with Siri is part of the Apple Intelligence feature set highlighted at the Worldwide Developers Conference, with Apple planning to roll out this feature by the end of the year. The ChatGPT integration is not currently in the software Apple is testing, but we expect it to appear in iOS18.2, iPadOS18.2, and macOS Sequoia15.2.

With the ChatGPT integration, when users ask Siri complex questions that the personal assistant cannot handle, Siri will suggest forwarding the query to ChatGPT. ChatGPT will provide relevant information and relay it through Siri.
ChatGPT will be capable of generating both text and images, although Apple Intelligence includes some features, ChatGPT is more advanced. For example, Apple's writing tools can offer spelling and grammar assistance or change the tone of already written content, while ChatGPT will be able to generate text from scratch with simple prompts.
Additionally, Apple is developing another AI feature called Visual Intelligence, which is an iPhone16 feature using the camera control button. iPhone16 users will be able to point their camera at objects or locations around them, and when pressing the camera control button, the iPhone will provide information about what is being viewed.
iOS18.1, iPadOS18.1, and macOS Sequoia15.1 are expected to be released on Monday, October 28th, and we are likely to receive the first beta versions of iOS18.2, iPadOS18.2, and macOS Sequoia15.2 soon thereafter. If testing follows other .2 updates, the software will be released at some point in December.
In addition to the ChatGPT integration and Visual Intelligence, iOS18.2 may also support the Image Playground image generation feature, Genmoji, and Image Wand (a feature in the Notes app for generating images from text or basic drawings).
