Recently, Perplexity Inc. launched a new feature called "Internal Knowledge Search," allowing its Pro and Enterprise Pro users to simultaneously query both internet information and their internal databases on a single platform. This feature aims to enhance corporate work efficiency, enabling users to access necessary information more conveniently.
It is important to note, however, that users can only upload files they deem significant to the platform, and the internal knowledge search functionality will be limited to these uploaded files. Frank te Pas, the head of enterprise products at Perplexity, mentioned in an interview that this design is intended to prevent users from being overwhelmed by a large number of low-value files during searches. According to him, businesses typically have 90% low-value files, and users can opt to upload only the most important and valuable data.
To utilize this new feature, corporate users can upload up to 500 files per account, with potential future expansions of this limit. Users can upload files in various document formats, such as Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PDFs. Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, stated that previously, businesses needed to use two separate products to access internal and external information during research, but now both can be accessed through a single platform.
In early tests, companies like Nvidia, Databricks, and Dell have already experienced this new feature, combining internal research notes with internet information to conduct due diligence, update sales materials, and find employee benefits information, all within Perplexity's platform, significantly boosting work efficiency.
Additionally, Perplexity introduced a "Spaces" feature, allowing teams to share and organize research materials. Users can share files within their teams and customize AI assistant responses based on their data. Notably, all files and searches by Enterprise Pro users are defaulted to not participate in AI quality training, and users need to actively opt out of AI training.
Looking ahead, Perplexity plans to integrate with third-party data such as Crunchbase and FactSet to further expand users' knowledge bases, supporting personalized searches on the Perplexity platform.
