Adobe's latest AI tool, Project Turntable, unveiled at MAX 2024, has excited the design community. This revolutionary tool uses unique AI algorithms to enable 2D vector images to rotate freely like 3D objects, completely overturning traditional image editing methods.
In the traditional design workflow, designers often had to spend a lot of time redrawing to showcase different angles of 2D illustrations. The advent of Project Turntable has completely changed this scenario. Designers can now make 2D images rotate 360 degrees with simple button and slider operations, and AI automatically fills in blind spots in the rotation process, presenting stunning 3D visual effects.

During the live demonstration at the Adobe MAX conference, a 2D vector image depicting a warrior confronting a dragon perfectly showcased the powerful capabilities of this technology. As the warrior image rotated, AI intelligently identified and generated previously hidden details. In another demonstration, a horse's 2D image, during rotation, had its previously invisible hind legs automatically completed by AI, making the entire rotation process appear natural and smooth.
The core technology of this tool lies in its advanced generative AI algorithms, which not only handle simple planar rotations but also intelligently fill in blind spots exposed during the rotation process. Through deep learning and analysis of existing vector data, AI can accurately predict and generate missing parts of the image, ensuring the artwork remains complete and coherent from any angle.
Although Project Turntable is still in the development phase, its potential is significant. As part of Adobe Sneaks, it is likely to follow in the footsteps of successful tools like Photoshop's "Remove" and Adobe Fresco, eventually becoming a standard feature in Adobe Illustrator. Based on past experience, once these experimental features receive positive feedback from users, they are often integrated into official products.
