Apple has announced that its Apple Intelligence technology will debut next week with the release of iOS 18.1, according to prominent tech journalist Mark Gurman. The launch date for iOS 18.1 is set for October 28th.
iOS 18.1 will introduce a range of new features with Apple Intelligence, including writing tools for text proofreading and rewriting, photo cleanup, notification summaries, and enhanced capabilities for Siri. These updates will enrich the smart experience for iPhone users.
Further, in iOS 18.2, Apple plans to deeply integrate Siri with ChatGPT. When seeking inspiration, users can directly ask Siri, which will suggest using ChatGPT and provide instant answers upon user consent. Apple assures that all information shared with ChatGPT will be pre-approved by the user, who can use ChatGPT for free without creating an account, and all requests will not be recorded. For ChatGPT subscribers, their accounts can also be linked.
Despite high market expectations that Apple Intelligence could significantly boost iPhone sales, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo points out that recent order cuts by Apple suggest this optimistic outlook may not be realized in the short term. Apple internally also generally believes its generative AI technology lags at least two years behind industry leaders.
Research shows that OpenAI's ChatGPT has a 25% higher accuracy rate in answering questions compared to Siri and can answer a broader range of questions.
