Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently addressed, for the first time via video, the phenomenon of online "Lei Jun AI" voice spoofing. Lei Jun mentioned that with the rapid development of AI technology, his voice has been turned into a voice package and misused in multiple videos, with some users reporting being "scolded" by such spoofs for a full seven days during the National Day holiday.
In response, Lei Jun expressed that this has caused him personal distress and discomfort. He called for an end to such inappropriate behavior and emphasized that while AI technology itself is positive and practical, such misuse is not appropriate. He stressed that according to relevant laws and regulations, without the consent of the person whose voice rights are involved, no organization or individual may use, disclose, or infringe upon others' voice rights.
Meanwhile, lawyers also reminded the public that the improper use of AI voice technology not only infringes on an individual's voice rights but could also damage their reputation. In the case of the Lei Jun AI voice package, the widespread circulation of some spoof videos on social media not only misleads public opinion but could also have irreversible impacts on personal reputation.
