Recently, LinkedIn announced the launch of a new feature called "Hiring Assistant," designed to leverage AI technology to help recruiters find suitable candidates more easily. This Hiring Assistant can intelligently recommend candidates who meet the criteria based on the recruiter's job description or written prompts.

Harry Shum, Vice President of Product for LinkedIn Talent Solutions, told the media that many recruiters spend too much time writing emails, sending messages, and pasting job descriptions across different platforms, leaving them unable to focus on the core of recruitment — finding outstanding new employees. Therefore, when developing the "Hiring Assistant," LinkedIn's goal was to streamline the recruiters' workflow, enabling them to find qualified candidates faster.

"We are not just recommending matching candidates; these assistants also evaluate each candidate's resume to determine if they are suitable for the position," Shum said. He emphasized that LinkedIn combines AI with the ever-changing recruitment field. Nowadays, many companies are using AI technology to optimize the recruitment and interview processes.

To achieve this goal, LinkedIn has introduced AI agents. Recruiters can input prompts such as "I need an engineer with machine learning and large-scale product management experience," or directly use existing job descriptions. This AI assistant will analyze this information, convert it into job requirements, and establish a candidate pipeline, even identifying candidates who have previously applied for the position.

Eran Berger, Vice President of Product Engineering responsible for the development of the Hiring Assistant, mentioned that LinkedIn recognizes that AI agents are non-deterministic, so human involvement is still necessary. They have also created an "orchestration layer" that allows these agents to use reasoning skills to break down tasks.

Additionally, they have built "experience memory" for the agents, meaning the agents can remember past interactions with recruiters and adjust the way they search for candidates based on feedback. Berger stated that as the features continue to develop, this process will no longer be linear.

LinkedIn has previously utilized generative AI technology, launching an AI chat tool last year that allows users to generate messages, resumes, and job descriptions. Company founder Reid Hoffman also proposed the concept of "super agents," believing that AI should serve as a tool for humans rather than replace them.
