OpenAI announced today that the Advanced Voice Mode (AVM) of ChatGPT is officially available on Windows and Mac platforms. This feature, developed based on the GPT-4o model, enables users to engage in more natural real-time voice conversations with AI.
It is understood that AVM was first opened to test users in July and expanded to ChatGPT Plus and Team paying users at the end of September. OpenAI stated that free users will also gain access to the feature in the future, but users in European regions such as the EU, UK, and Switzerland are temporarily unable to use it.
In this update, OpenAI added five voice options: Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale, and replaced the black animated dots in the interface with blue animated spheres. The system supports users to interrupt and pause during conversations, achieving a more human-like conversational experience. However, the system has a daily usage limit, and exceeding the quota will automatically switch to the standard voice mode.
User feedback indicates that the new feature performs well in terms of voice recognition accuracy and response speed. Test data shows that users' overall satisfaction with the platform is 96%, and the AI's response accuracy rate is 92%.
Additionally, OpenAI also launched the ChatGPT web version chat history search feature yesterday, allowing users to retrieve and continue previous conversations. Industry insiders believe that these updates demonstrate OpenAI's continuous breakthroughs in voice interaction technology, but the further improvement of the function and the effectiveness of market promotion still need to be observed.
