Among numerous AI video generation models, Pika stands out as the most popular, especially among mainstream creators and audiences. This startup, based in Palo Alto, California, was co-founded by two Stanford AI PhD dropouts and has so far raised $135 million in funding.
Earlier this month, Pika released version 1.5 of its text-to-video and image-to-video AI generation models, introducing six stunning new effects including "explosion," "squeeze," "melt," "flatten," "inflate," and "cake-ify." Users can easily add these effects to their photos to create surreal and eye-catching short videos.
To celebrate Halloween, Pika has now introduced three new eerie and thrilling effects: levitate, eye pop, and decapitate. These effects sound quite cool and fit the Halloween atmosphere perfectly.
Matan Cohen-Grumi, the founding creative director of Pika, stated in an interview, "We aim to put fun at the forefront of AI, making it not only available to creators but also to everyone, including children and grandparents."
Users can simply visit Pika.art, log in with their Google, Discord, Facebook, or email account, and start using these effects. They can then upload their photos, select the desired effects, and generate videos, all in a very simple process. Cohen-Grumi also noted that these effects can be generated in just a few seconds.
However, some users have reported that the Pika website seems to have high traffic, causing delays in video generation. In Pika's free plan, users receive 150 credits per month, enough for generating ten videos, but there may be some failures during peak hours. Cohen-Grumi said they are quickly addressing these load issues.
Regarding Pika's future, Cohen-Grumi said they are constantly working on developing more fun and easy-to-use effects to meet the needs of every major holiday or season.
