Amazon's Prime Video is rolling out a new feature called "X-Ray Recaps," a tool that leverages generative AI technology to help users quickly review the shows they are watching.

According to information posted on Amazon's blog, X-Ray Recaps can generate text summaries for entire seasons, individual episodes, and episode segments, allowing users to grasp key plot points without having to watch from the beginning.

This new feature will be accessible through the show details page or via the X-Ray function while watching a show. It analyzes different video segments and combines subtitles or dialogues to generate detailed descriptions of key events, locations, times, and conversations. This means users can easily understand the plot progression, especially when they haven't watched for a long time, making X-Ray Recaps particularly useful.

To avoid spoilers, Amazon has also implemented "guardrails" for this feature, ensuring that the generated summaries are concise yet not overly detailed. This way, users can quickly grasp the story's essence without being influenced by future plot developments.

Currently, X-Ray Recaps is in the testing phase and has been launched today on Fire TV devices. Amazon states that by the end of the year, the number of supported devices will increase. Initially, the feature will be available for all original series produced by Amazon MGM Studios, meaning users can access updates on these shows at any time.

With the competition among streaming platforms intensifying, Amazon is clearly working to enhance user experience, ensuring that viewers can enjoy watching with ease amidst their busy lives.
