Amazon Prime Video has received a significant update. The iconic X-Ray feature has added an "AI Smart Assistant," and the new X-Ray Recaps functionality has officially debuted, elevating the viewing experience to a new level.
X-Ray has always been one of the most popular features on Prime Video, providing real-time information such as actor biographies, background music, and behind-the-scenes footage. The newly introduced X-Ray Recaps, powered by generative AI technology, takes this experience to new heights.
According to Amazon, X-Ray Recaps can intelligently generate personalized summaries based on the viewer's current progress, whether it's an overview of the entire season, a recap of a single episode, or detailed commentary on a specific scene. This means that when you fall behind on the plot or return to watching after a long break, you can quickly get back into the viewing mood.
Technically, this feature is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Bedrock. The system combines the Bedrock model with custom AI models trained on Amazon SageMaker to analyze video footage, subtitles, and dialogue simultaneously, generating accurate scene descriptions. More thoughtfully, Amazon has also implemented a spoiler-prevention mechanism to ensure that the summary content is concise and does not ruin the viewing experience.
Currently, X-Ray Recaps is available for testing in the U.S. for Fire TV users, with plans to support more devices by the end of the year. The initial supported content includes original series from Amazon MGM Studios such as "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "The Boys."
Users interested in experiencing this new feature can find it in the Prime Video details page or the X-Ray section of the playback interface. They can choose different summary methods according to their needs, such as watching a recap of the entire season.
This upgrade not only showcases Amazon's technological prowess in AI but also brings an unprecedented intelligent viewing experience to the audience. For frequent series watchers, this is undoubtedly a highly anticipated major benefit.
