ByteDance launched its latest image editing model, SeedEdit, on November 11th, becoming the first productized general image editing tool in China. Users can simply input a straightforward natural language command to change the background, convert styles, and add, delete, or replace elements in a photo without the need for tedious outlining and smudging.

SeedEdit excels in interpreting commands, accurately understanding both Chinese and English prompts, including idioms and proper nouns. For instance, a user can input "replace the watermelon with grapes," and SeedEdit will quickly accomplish the fruit substitution. Additionally, the model maintains the integrity of the original image when dealing with details, such as removing glass cracks or altering specific elements within the image.

As a versatile image editing model, SeedEdit not only supports single edits but also allows for multiple rounds of creative operations. Users can continuously edit the same image to create a variety of effects. Technical reports indicate that SeedEdit achieves high-quality content generation while preserving the original image, addressing several pain points in traditional AI image editing.

It is understood that SeedEdit is now available on Doubao's PC platform and ByteDance's AIGC platform, allowing users to achieve efficient image editing with simple commands. Compared to competitors like Dall・E3 and Midjourney, SeedEdit has a more significant advantage in editing convenience and response accuracy. Overall, the release of SeedEdit marks a new breakthrough in AI image editing technology, offering users a fresh creative experience.
