Recently, Waymo announced the official expansion of its autonomous ride-hailing service, Waymo One, to the entire Los Angeles County, now open to all customers. The service has removed the waiting list for local residents, allowing Los Angeles residents to use autonomous vehicles for travel at any time.
Waymo stated that the service area will expand starting today, offering 24/7 autonomous services. The company also mentioned plans to further expand the service area in the future, with Los Angeles County being the target for the first phase.
Waymo has been providing autonomous services in Los Angeles for some time, but previously required joining a waiting list. The company has also been operating on a smaller scale in San Francisco and Phoenix, and has announced similar expansion plans. Waymo One is set to launch in Austin and Atlanta in the near future.
The company reports that over 300,000 Los Angeles residents have joined the waiting list for this service, and Waymo One has completed "tens of thousands of paid trips across the city." Waymo noted that these autonomous services have received high ratings, averaging 4.7 stars out of 5. A recent survey showed that 98% of customers are satisfied with the service.
