Meta is launching several new features for its messaging app, Messenger, including high-definition video calls, AI noise cancellation, and more practical tools to enhance user communication and calling experience.
Messenger has set high-definition video calls as the default option for Wi-Fi calls and as an optional feature for cellular calls. Additionally, users can enable voice isolation through the settings menu to reduce background noise and optimize call quality. These features are designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality communication.
Messenger has introduced a brand new audio and video voice messaging feature. When contacts are unavailable to take calls, users can send voice or video recordings by clicking the "Record Message" button, similar to a digital voicemail. Additionally, Meta has integrated with Apple’s Siri, allowing iOS users to easily send messages or make calls using voice commands, such as "Hey Siri, send a message to Cassandra on Messenger."
Meta has also launched an AI-generated background feature, allowing users to select custom backgrounds during video calls through the "Effects" icon in the sidebar. This feature aims to add a personal touch to video calls, providing a richer visual experience.
In addition to the features mentioned above, Meta has made other improvements to Messenger recently. For instance, a new community feature has been added, and the Meta AI chatbot is now integrated into the Messenger search bar, while also supporting the sharing of large files. At the end of last year, end-to-end encryption was fully enabled for Messenger conversations, further ensuring user privacy and data security.
