Brave search engine announced a significant update on Thursday: a new conversational mode for its "Answer with AI" feature, allowing users to ask follow-up questions based on their initial search, greatly enhancing the coherence and depth of the search experience.

This innovative feature operates in a very intuitive manner. For example, when searching for "Christopher Nolan movies," the system first generates an AI summary that introduces the director's background and his notable works. Now, users can ask follow-up questions in the dialog box below the summary, such as "Which actors frequently appear in his films?" The AI will provide detailed responses immediately, citing sources during the answer to ensure content reliability.

It is worth noting that this feature gives Brave a unique advantage in the competition with Google. While Google also offers a similar "AI overview" feature, users must perform a new search each time they need more information, preventing continuous conversational exploration.

This new feature, supported by both open-source and internal large language models, cleverly integrates the strengths of traditional search engines and AI chatbots. Search engines excel at retrieving images, links, and specific information, while AI chatbots are adept at exploring related topics based on context. With this upgrade, Brave successfully merges the advantages of both.

Data shows that Brave Search handles over 36 million queries daily, with the "Answer with AI" feature generating more than 11 million answers each day. Additionally, Brave emphasizes user privacy protection, promising not to store query histories or create user profiles.

This update not only showcases Brave's innovative capabilities in the field of AI applications but also provides users with a smarter and more private search experience.
