Spain's BBVA Bank (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria) recently announced the successful global deployment of the ChatGPT Enterprise Edition to enhance employee efficiency and innovation capabilities. In just five months, the bank has created over 2,900 customized GPT applications by closely collaborating with its legal, compliance, and IT security teams to ensure the safe and responsible use of AI.

BBVA Bank has always been at the forefront of technological innovation, having launched self-service ATM deposits and award-winning mobile applications years ago. Now, they aim to democratize AI capabilities through ChatGPT for every employee, enabling them to develop solutions more easily. BBVA's Global AI Promotion Head, Elena Alfaro, stated, "In companies like ours, prototyping usually requires significant technical resources and time. With customized GPTs, anyone can easily develop applications to address unique problems."

Since the introduction of ChatGPT, employees from various departments have actively participated in developing customized GPTs that accelerate data analysis and content creation. For example, a credit analysis expert GPT can assist credit risk analysts in quickly evaluating unstructured data such as annual reports and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) assessments, significantly saving analysis time. The bank's Chief Risk Strategy Officer, Ignacio Sueiro, commented, "By automating these tasks, we can focus more on strategic analysis and creativity."

Additionally, BBVA has developed a retail banking legal assistant GPT to quickly respond to 40,000 customer inquiries from branch managers each year, significantly improving the efficiency of their small legal team. Meanwhile, the customer experience assistant GPT helps the bank better understand and meet customer needs by analyzing customer feedback.

To promote the widespread use of ChatGPT, BBVA has adopted a democratized AI promotion strategy, granting licenses to 3,000 employees and encouraging them to customize solutions based on their needs. Alfaro emphasized, "Our strategy is to put people at the center of all our work."

BBVA has also established an internal GPT store, currently offering around 700 GPTs for employees to use. This not only fosters teamwork but also sparks innovative ideas. In the future, BBVA plans to further expand the application of ChatGPT, providing more personalized and convenient services to customers through multimodal conversational AI.
