Recently, the International Data Corporation (IDC) released a technical assessment report in Beijing titled "The Emergence of Unified AI Development Platforms for Enterprises in the Generative AI Application Development Market."

The report highlights that enterprises urgently need a unified AI development platform to scale generative AI applications. This platform can help management at all levels, employees, and technical departments achieve unified management of data, models, and applications. IDC emphasized a series of essential capabilities that a generative AI application development platform should possess, including data preparation, model tuning, RAG/Prompt support, model deployment, and ensuring application security.

Additionally, IDC noted that there is currently no unified definition of large model platforms in the market. In the future, enterprises will require a comprehensive AI development platform, where large model platforms will be a key feature.

IDC predicts that by 2025, the market size of generative AI software in China will reach $3.54 billion. With the enhancement of foundational capabilities of large models and innovations in application forms, large model platforms will gradually differentiate into foundational platforms and intelligent agent development platforms, with the former integrating with enterprise data analytics and machine learning development platforms, and the latter evolving towards low-code and no-code solutions.

Lu Yanxia, Director of AI Research at IDC China, stated that although foundational large model capabilities will continue to rapidly improve in 2024, and generative AI applications are gradually taking shape, the industry is still in its early stages. Industry participants need to closely monitor the evolution of foundational model capabilities and the latest developments in generative AI application products.
