Recently, a survey commissioned by Google Workspace revealed that an increasing number of professionals are willing to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help them tackle complex and heavy work tasks. Conducted by Harris Poll, the survey covered over 1,000 U.S. employees aged 22 to 39, focusing mainly on those currently in or aspiring to leadership positions.

The survey results revealed that 82% of respondents indicated they are already using AI tools at work. Even more striking, 88% expressed a willingness to utilize AI to initiate tasks that feel overwhelming. Specifically, 70% of participants have used AI for composing emails, particularly excelling in drafting complex messages or overcoming language barriers. Additionally, 88% of respondents wish to use AI to adjust their writing tone to enhance communication effectiveness.

When communicating with colleagues, 87% of respondents believe that using AI boosts their confidence when drafting lengthy emails on their phones. Regarding attending meetings anytime and anywhere, 90% stated they would feel more at ease if AI could take meeting notes for them. Furthermore, 93% of Generation Z and 79% of Millennials use two or more AI tools weekly, showcasing the younger generation's strong acceptance of new technology.

The survey also indicated that 98% of participants believe AI will have a significant impact on their industry or workplace in the next five years. More than half of respondents actively share their experiences with colleagues after using AI, and 75% are willing to recommend generative AI (gen AI) tools to their peers.

Participants generally believe that AI can enhance work efficiency, improve communication, and strengthen leadership capabilities. Specifically, 50% of respondents believe AI can automate routine tasks, providing them with more time to focus on strategic matters. Meanwhile, 47% think AI can help improve communication effectiveness and foster collaboration among teams.

For leaders seeking to play a more significant role in the workplace, AI is seen as a crucial tool for enhancing teamwork and improving management skills. 86% of participants believe that AI helps leaders become better managers, while 79% expressed a desire to leverage AI to enhance their management abilities.

Yulie Kwon Kim, Vice President of Product at Google Workspace, stated, "Our research shows that the new generation of leaders is actively using AI to enhance their impact at work." She noted that these emerging leaders view AI not only as a tool for efficiency but also as a catalyst for career advancement.
