Japan's renowned electronics company Panasonic has recently announced the launch of an artificial intelligence (AI) version of its late founder, Kōnosuke Matsushita. Matsushita passed away in 1989, but Panasonic aims to use this technology to help the new generation of employees better understand and inherit the management philosophy of its founder.

As the company has grown, the number of employees who received direct training from Kōnosuke Matsushita has gradually decreased, creating an urgent need for Panasonic to find a new way to preserve the founder's ideals. The company stated, "We believe it is essential for employees to correctly understand Matsushita's management philosophy, which forms the foundation of our fundamental management policy and should be passed down through generations."

This AI has been trained by analyzing 3,000 audio recordings of Kōnosuke Matsushita, along with his writings, lectures, and interviews. These materials were digitized and organized by Panasonic's "PHP Institute" (Peace and Happiness through Prosperity Institute). Panasonic collaborated with the Matsuo Institute at the University of Tokyo to develop an AI character that can mimic Matsushita's thinking and expression style.

Panasonic plans to further expand this project, aiming to develop similar AI tools for Matsushita's direct contacts and researchers in the future, helping users reference the founder's thoughts and emotions in management decisions.

Kōnosuke Matsushita holds a prestigious position in the Japanese business world, often referred to as the "God of Management," and his leadership philosophy has had a profound impact. He authored over 40 books, many of which are still considered essential reading for professionals today, such as "Where is the Road?" published in 1968, which explores personal success and self-improvement, and "Not Just for Bread," which focuses on the social role of business.

The introduction of this virtual AI is not viewed as strange by the Japanese public; on the contrary, respecting predecessors is a norm in Japanese culture. This technology not only enhances Panasonic's experience and capabilities in the AI field but also injects new vitality into its development in emerging areas such as electric vehicle batteries, hydrogen energy, digital office solutions, and supply chain software.
