OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman stated that artificial intelligence will become an "exceptionally important" topic following Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

He emphasized that the U.S. must maintain its leadership in the development of artificial intelligence, grounded in "democratic values." In a one-on-one interview with Fox News' Shannon Bream, Altman pointed out that the U.S. needs to establish necessary infrastructure domestically, such as data centers, to ensure it has "the world's best AI infrastructure."

Altman expressed optimism about the measures that President Trump will take after being elected, stating, "I believe President Trump will take this very seriously, and I look forward to working with his administration." He noted that this will be a very significant moment in the history of technology, and that the U.S. and its allies need to take a leading role in the field of artificial intelligence.

He believes that the U.S.'s ongoing ability to innovate in various fields, including science and technology, is what makes the country unique. Altman also mentioned that the lag of other countries in artificial intelligence provides a clear example of why the U.S. needs to maintain a leading position in this area.

As the 2024 election season comes to a close, Altman has been recruited by newly elected San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie to be part of his transition team. This team also includes other business leaders, such as José Quinonez, CEO of Mission Asset Fund.

Before Trump is set to take office in January 2025, he met with Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg at Mar-a-Lago. Meta confirmed the meeting, stating it was "an important moment for the future of American innovation." Although Zuckerberg did not endorse Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris before the election, he expressed through social media after the election that he looks forward to collaborating with the new administration.
