Recently, the Financial Times reported that OpenAI is fully committed to achieving its goal of reaching 1 billion users by 2025. The artificial intelligence company aims to accomplish this growth target through the launch of new products, the construction of data centers, and collaboration with Apple. Since the launch of the ChatGPT chatbot two years ago, OpenAI's user base has grown to 250 million active users per week.
OpenAI's Chief Financial Officer, Sarah Friar, stated in an interview that the company will transform into a research laboratory serving millions, even billions, of consumers in the future. She noted that OpenAI completed the largest financing round in Silicon Valley history in October, raising $6 billion, and plans to continue fundraising to support the company's growth.
Friar mentioned that since she joined in June, OpenAI has added $10 billion in liquidity to its balance sheet. This move reflects her desire to drive the company's development through effective capital management. At the same time, OpenAI plans to establish data centers in the Midwest and Southwest regions of the United States. Chris Lehane, the company's new policy chief, stated that this is to build its own AI infrastructure to tackle fierce market competition.
In addition to infrastructure development, OpenAI is also expanding its sales team, aiming to achieve $100 billion in revenue by 2029. Meanwhile, research from PYMNTS shows that an increasing number of Chief Operating Officers (COOs) are starting to leverage generative AI (GenAI) to enhance production efficiency and cybersecurity management.
Against this backdrop, the percentage of COOs using GenAI for production monitoring rose from 32% in May to 57% in August. The usage rate of automated cybersecurity systems also increased from 38% to 55%. This indicates that businesses' confidence in AI technology is gradually strengthening.
As technology advances, COOs are also utilizing GenAI for data visualization, workflow management, and other routine automation tasks, which are driving improvements in operational efficiency.
