Recently, the Wharton School's online learning platform - Wharton Online, launched a new course titled "AI in Education: Teaching with ChatGPT." This course was developed in collaboration with the artificial intelligence research company OpenAI, aiming to help educators effectively utilize technology in their teaching and assist students in enhancing their AI skills.
The course was officially announced on November 21 and will begin on December 1, structured into four self-paced modules. The course content primarily focuses on exploring new concepts in generative AI, developing AI prompts, and integrating AI into school assignments while maintaining academic integrity.
The launch of this course coincides with the one-year anniversary of the Wharton School's "Wharton AI Initiative," which aims to encourage research on AI's applications in business and its social impact. The course will be co-taught by Wharton Professor Ethan Mollick and education expert Lilach Mollick. Ethan Mollick was named one of TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2024 for his impact in the AI field. Leah Belsky, Vice President and General Manager of OpenAI's education division, stated during the course announcement that Wharton's embrace of OpenAI is a "significant" move.
Belsky also mentioned that Ethan and Lilach Mollick serve as "beacons" in the education sector, continuously experimenting, researching, and sharing insights on how to leverage AI to accelerate learning.
