Apple CEO Tim Cook recently responded to speculation about the company potentially offering AI features as a paid service during an interview.
Previously, analyst Mark Gurman suggested in a podcast that Apple might follow the iCloud subscription model and launch a paid AI service similar to "Apple Intelligence." This news sparked widespread discussion in the industry, with many believing that, given Apple's recent shift in focus from hardware to services, the company's AI services might charge a fee in the future.
However, Cook made it clear that Apple has never considered charging for Apple Intelligence. He believes that AI is a fundamental feature of smart devices, just like multi-touch, and is an essential part of the devices. Cook's statement quelled speculation about the potential charging for Apple's AI services.
Regarding retirement, Cook noted that he is asked about this topic much more frequently than before. He expressed his deep affection for Apple, stating that he feels honored to be at the company and finds it hard to imagine what life would be like without Apple.
Since 1998, Cook's life has been closely tied to Apple, and he emphasized that the company will be remembered in history for changing the world and providing products that improve the quality of life for humanity.
