Elon Musk's AI company xAI has launched the AI chatbot Grok, which is now available for free to all X users. Users no longer need to pay the X Premium fee to access Grok's AI chat services. According to the latest update, X users can receive 10 free prompts every two hours and generate up to 10 images. They can analyze a maximum of 3 images per day, with any additional analyses requiring a subscription.
This change brings Grok's user experience closer to the freemium models of other AI chat services like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. Previously, Grok was only available to X Premium members, who paid $8 per month or $84 per year. With this update, all users on the X platform can enjoy this AI service.
The free trial of Grok was initially piloted in specific countries like New Zealand, and it received positive feedback from users. This broader free access means that X platform users can now use Grok's chat features and image generation services without any extra cost, further enhancing Grok's competitiveness against other AI chatbots.
Additionally, xAI, the company behind Grok, recently raised $6 billion, bringing its total funding to $12 billion, marking the company's rapid growth and market expansion in the AI sector.
