National Taiwan University Hospital is embarking on a new chapter in medical artificial intelligence. By introducing two NVIDIA supercomputers, the hospital is advancing the development of intelligent medical applications across multiple data types on a large scale.
This is not the first collaboration between the hospital and NVIDIA. As early as 2020, National Taiwan University Hospital began deploying an AI supercomputing platform and has achieved significant breakthroughs in various medical fields. Currently, the hospital's Intelligent Medical Center has developed several groundbreaking AI applications, including automatic ICD-10 coding, automatic generation of health check reports, transcription of telemedicine consultations, emergency voice record reporting, and key point extraction from pathology reports.

The introduction of this new generation of supercomputers aims to further expand the application of multimodal large language models, with the goal of optimizing operational processes and enhancing patient service quality. The hospital's IT office has already begun applying large language models to medical record summarization, report generation, unstructured data mining, and medical query resolution, seamlessly integrating these models into the hospital's medical information system.
In addition to text processing, National Taiwan University Hospital has developed a VR surgical training platform called OpVerse, showcasing its forward-thinking approach to innovation in medical technology.
Notably, other local tech giants in Taiwan are also accelerating the construction of AI infrastructure. Foxconn is collaborating with NVIDIA to build Taiwan's fastest AI supercomputer, expected to exceed 90 exaflops in performance, which is anticipated to support cancer research and large language model development. Fuchain Technology has also recently completed the first supercomputing center, claiming to possess the highest computing power in Taiwan to date.
The international medical field is also experiencing a wave of AI innovation. Singapore's SingHealth and National University Health System have begun leveraging supercomputers to accelerate AI application development, including generative AI-based chatbots and digital twin technology for disease outbreak monitoring.
